Procedure on how to install Windows 2000 & Windows XP

  1. Make sure that your computer is set to boot up from CD-ROM drive. You can configure it in Startup Options by pressing F1 or F10 or F8.
  2. Load the Windows 2000 installer CD. Reboot the machine to detect the CD. The Windows setup will start with the checking of machine configurations and loading of files.
  3. Press Enter when the Welcome Setup screen appears.
  4. Review the Licensing Agreement and then press F8.
  5. On Partition step, select the option to delete the existing partition. Wait until the disk space is labeled as Unpartitioned Space. Then press C to create a new partition.
  6. Press Enter after the New (Unformatted partition is created.
  7. Select the Format the partition using the NTFS file system and press Enter. Formatting of hard disk will take time depending on its size and computer’s speed.
  8. You may set the parameters for Language, Advanced, and Accessibility options to default otherwise change them to user’s preferred value. Click Next.
  9. 9. Type Amkor and Amkor Philippines on the Name and Organization boxes respectively. Click Next.
  10. Type the Product Key. You can find it at the back of the Windows 2000 CD case.
  11. Type the computer name with the following format -OS
  12. Leave the Administrator password field blank. Click Next.
  13. Configure the time and date settings. Click Next.
  14. 14. Install networking components.
  15. 15. Click Next to accept the Typical settings. Click Next.
  16. 16. Select “No, this computer is not on a Network” and click OK. (Configuration of the pc’s connection to the Domain will be discussed on the next procedure.)
  17. 17. Setup the Installs and configure Windows components. Perform the following final tasks: a. Install the Start menu items. b. Register components. c. Save settings. d. Remove any temporary files.
  18. Click Finish when the Setup is complete.
  19. Remove the Windows installer CD. Reboot the computer.
  20. The Network Identification Wizard will start after the reboot. Click Next.
  21. Select the default user logged on (Administrator). Click Next and then Finish.
